The Department of Languages came into existence since the inception of the college in 1975. The department offers a wide range of subjects, which includes General English, English Communication Skills, Personality Development and English Literature, Compulsory Punjabi, Punjabi literature, Mudla Gyan, catering to diverse students’ needs. Additionally, the department offers a one-month certification course in Spoken English, designed to enhance students’ fluency and confidence in communication. With experienced faculty and a track record of achievements in inter-college competitions and language proficiency tests, the department provides a comprehensive language learning experience, making it a premier destination for language enthusiasts. The Department of Languages emphasizes literature, language, and communication skills to develop students’ understanding of diverse literary traditions and critical approaches. The curriculum is designed to enhance students' analytical abilities, cultural insights, and creative expression. Courses cover a broad range of topics, including classical and contemporary literature, literary criticism, linguistics, and communication skills. Through lectures, seminars, workshops, and interactive learning sessions, students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills that are essential for careers in teaching, writing, journalism, and other fields. The English department has its association Inspired Roots to conduct extra-curricular activities for the students to provide a dynamic platform aimed at fostering creativity, critical thinking, and scholarly engagement among students and faculty.

The Masters in Punjabi was started in 2020-2021 with a commitment to preserve and promote Punjabi language and culture. The department offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes History of Punjabi literature, Sufi poetry, literary criticism, folk traditions, linguistics, and translation studies. With a special focus on regional and cultural studies, students explore the historical and contemporary relevance of Punjabi in both local and global contexts. The post graduate department of Punjabi actively engages students through seminars, cultural events, and research projects that celebrate the richness of Punjabi heritage, preparing them for various career paths in education, media, and cultural preservation. The Kroomblan Association of the Punjabi Department is an initiative designed to foster a deeper understanding of Punjabi language, literature and culture among students through fun activities.

It also prepares students for careers in education, particularly in teaching Punjabi and English at various levels. It also provides outreach programmes-cum-career counselling sessions at local schools. It offers workshops on resume building, interview preparation, and communication skills, tailoring them to career paths that M.A. Punjabi students typically pursue.
